I've been looking around for a while checking out all the nice diesel pinzgauers you guys have in your part of the world, sadly there aren't very many over here...not yet anyway. Hopefully one day I'll be lucky enough to own one but for now I'm very happy with my air cooled 712k.
That's it I just wanted to say hi from down under. Enjoy a couple of pics of my pinz,it's still got the previous owners paint scheme on it I will get around to painting it hopefully soon.
Thought that these couple of videos were excellent 1 shows traction on a Defender vrs G Wagon and Jeep along with some tips on expedition stuff

This 716 has been kept in undercover storage for quite a while by the MOD. It was modified by Automotive Technique who were the Pinzgauer UK importers. It was one of 6 Pinzgauer's that were converted to hard top for the military for a CBRN (Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence) Role.
This also has an upgraded front and rear suspension system documented with a chassis plate fitted on the vehicle.
Also this has fitted a specially designed for the MOD a heavy duty roof rack which can be removed.
This vehicle is offered with a Superwinch winch, 2 Spotlights, Synthetic winch rope, Mantec Bridging ladders fitted to the side along with heavy duty mounting brackets. This vehicle is also fitted with the Rare 7in wheel rims with new Micky Thompson 315/75/16 Extreme Mud Tyres.
It is fitted with 2 rear jerry can holders along with jerry cans, 2 New Batteries, Eberspacher 24volt heater unit.

Please Note that the Euro 3 engine fitted with the 5 cylinder VW 2.5 engine was only fitted to the Pinzgauers being built by BAE from 2001/2002 onwards.
These BAE vehicles have ECU electronics along with ABS and Traction control. They also run a 12 volt electrical system and a 24 volt electrical system. On these vehicles you would need computer based software to read fault codes etc.
I understand that the ABS system is from Bosch who had various problems with it and is now discontinued.
The VW engine 6 cylinder Pinzgauers are much more user-friendly to work on much like the Defender 300 TDIs no electrics to worry about.

It has been fitted with a P93 intercooler and injection pump. Its is also a rare automatic vehicle which has recently had a reconditioned gearbox in it from Express Gearboxe's
It has P93 Sides on so the sides on this vehicle will drop down.
It also comes with an original Steyr hard top cab.

As the rebuild on the 718 continues, I'm looking for the Plastic Vacuum formed Internal Trim Panel for the Right Rear Side Door.

The factory no longer supplies this part and so far I've been unsuccessful in finding a replacement unit, so before I contemplate spending many hours building a vacuum form die and then locating someone who will vac a one-off, I thought I'd try one last time to see if someone on this forum might know where one may be hidden away...... somewhere, anywhere.

It has come out of a Pinzgauer 718 and comes complete with bell housing and torque converter also has kick down cable fitted. It was working before coming out.

February 2016 Newsletter
The month of February will start with the continuation of the Field Training Unit organised Army Weapons Effect Simulation Exercise WESSEX STORM for 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment in the light protective mobility infantry role which will use extensive areas across the Plain. This exercise will involve the use of Foxhound and Husky wheeled armoured vehicles and will be supported by elements of a light cavalry sqaudron in CVRT. They will be joined by a foreign force infantry company. The public should be aware that tank crossings over the A360, A345, A338, B390, and the C22 (Tilshead to Chitterne) roads will be very busy and if conditions are wet mud clearance parties will be working on the crossings. Notice is also given that the training areas in the Copehill Down and Bourne Valley (SPTA East) areas will be heavily used over this period and that recreational use of the Salisbury Plain military lands in these areas are to be restricted to public rights of way only as per the byelaws. The exercise will end on 11 February.
During the remainder of the month the majority of training will involve armoured formations conducting low level sub-unit training across all areas with elements of armoured (Challenger 2), armoured infantry (Warrior), armoured cavalry (CVRT), armoured engineers, and signals regiments plus light mechanised troops.
The last two weeks of the month will see 1 Intelligence Surveillance and Recconnaissance Brigade conducting Exercise STEEL SABRE involving live firing on the Larkhill Impact Area.

NOISE MANAGEMENT
General. The MoD takes all complaints very seriously and do much to mitigate where possible. Most complaints from members of the public from around Salisbury Plain Training Area are concerning impulse noise generated from the detonation of the 155mm High Explosive shell, and gun noise from the AS90 artillery weapon system.
Noise Limits. All ranges have been directed to ensure that no impulse noise greater than 130dB is heard outside the range boundary in populated areas or on main routes.
Noise Prediction. Gunfire noise is predicted using the Gunfire Noise Analysis Tool (GNAT) and traces from the Met Office Noise Evaluation Tool (MONET) at Larkhill Met Office.
Noise Measurement. Range Operations monitors noise from both the guns and the impact area using fixed microphones linked to the Gunfire Noise Assessment Tool (GNAT) computer in Westdown Camp and staff may deploy with hand-held noise monitors.
Countering Excessive Noise. In the event that the 130dB limit could be exceeded, Range Operations have a number of control measures that can be activated to ensure the requirement is adhered to; including stopping firing.
Upcoming Major Exercises. During exercises access may be restricted on Larkhill Ranges and in the Chitterne – Shrewton – Tilshead Triangle north of the B390.
ACCESS
Access to SPTA is regulated by Salisbury Plain Military Lands, Bulford, Larkhill and Imber Range Byelaws. Always comply with local signs and flags. Rights of way in Range Danger Areas are closed when red flags are flying.
This Newsletter is published up to 6 weeks before the event and changes may occur. Access timings for the next week can be found on the SPTA Walks Line: (01980) 67 4763.
Imber Ranges. The public are excluded except when the roads are specifically opened. Planned open dates for 2016 are as follows:

1. Even when roads are open the village and buildings remain out of bounds to the public.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO REDUCE CRIME ON SALISBURY PLAIN?
If any crime is taking place call 999, (or 101) and do not under any circumstances challenge the offenders.
Report suspicious activity to PLAINWATCH (01980 674700) or PLAINWATCH@landmarc.mod.uk. The more information received the better, e.g. time, place, vehicle registration, description of individuals and vehicles.
Health and Safety reminder for all Military Training Areas and Ranges:
